More than 6 years have passed by from the very first idea to intensive planning and financing – since yesterday it is time. The solar system for the roof of AIM. Training Centre becomes reality. In the future, the PV system will make computer training more independent of the Ghanaian power grid.
The planning of the solar system was taken over by Paul Eichel and Andreas Sauerborn, both members of Engineers Without Borders (Ingog). They volunteered to work out the idea of a solar system during a trip to Komenda. Most of the financing was taken over by Energiewerke Schönau (EWS), also known as “energy rebels”. The EWS stands for sustainable energy supply, for energy efficiency and climate protection, against nuclear power and carbon dioxide. It is set up cooperatively and its societies combine economy with civic engagement. A further part of the financing carries the engineering company saolres bauen from Freiburg. It is an engineering company for building physics and the planning of the technical equipment nationwide specialized in the efficient use of energy and the use of all regenerative energy sources.
Important for AIM. and his project partners was a clean and sustainable battery technology. This was found in NaCl batteries. They are not only completely removable, but are also particularly suitable for use in tropical areas.
As a partner for technical implementation and installation, the Ghanaian company UMAWA was contracted.
Since yesterday evening, UMAWA has been on the scene, and has first unloaded the roof-plate construction as well as the solar panels in the training center. We are looking forward to the next few weeks.
